Hybrid Kettlebell Program - Concur the Tactical Strength Challenge
The Tactical Strength Challenge is a bi-annual competition that tests max strength, relative strength, and strength endurance through the deadlift, tactical pull up, and 5 minute kettlebell snatch test. This is a challenging thing to program for because it involves training for multiple disciplines at a high level. Often a competitor is good at one or two events, but struggles with the other. After many attempts and top 10 finishes at the competition I have been able to refine a system that produces results in all the categories.
The most recent showing of the TSC I was lucky to work with Ryan Patrick to develop a program that produced the best results yet. Thanks to this system he was able to win the overall title in the most elite division and I came in right behind him in 4th place. We finished with the top two deadlifts (680 and 670) and both finished in the top 5 of the snatch (he also finished top 5 in pull ups).
We collaborated to create the Hybrid Kettlebell Training Program to share our methods. This program will use the deadlift and one arm kettlebell press to test max strength, the pull up and 2KB squat to test relative strength, and the snatch test and biking/rowing/running to test conditioning. By the end of the program all of the categories will be improved resulting in a hybrid athlete that can compete in any setting.
This is not a minimalist program. The program involves training 4-6 days per week with most sessions lasting 60-75 minutes. There are pure strength and high volume days combined with conditioning and low volume days to allow for recovery, but still achieve maximal performance.
If you are interested in seeing results like this and trying a system unlike any other, check out our Hybrid Kettlebell Program available from the Be Strong Store. The PDF comes with videos of every exercise along with descriptions of each phase and block. The only equipment NEEDED is a set of kettlebells (light to moderately heavy), a barbell, and a pull up bar. It is great if a bike and rower are available, but not absolutely necessary.
Reach out if you have any questions or need help with anything. See you at the top of the TSC leader boards!
